Answer / m.bhuvaneswari
transformer copper loss is directly propotional to
current&iron loss is directly propotional to voltage. so
transformer rating is in kva.

we can't find the correct powerfactor , this is depn upon
the loads thats why we are calling KVA..

copper loss depending upon on current, iron loss depending
upon voltage thats why tr in kva not in kw

In trafo we dont know what types of load connected at a
time.i.e. inductive or rasistive but in motor load is same.

Cappacity(rating) of Transformer is always in KVA.If you
see the fomula of calculation of KW,you will get the answer
of this question. KW = VxIxPF/100 Power Factor can be vary
as it depends upon connected load.

Answer / livereason
Actually In transformer we cannot determine actual value of
the power factor. Power factor depends upon the load.
therefore we say the transformer rating in KVA.

Answer / baskaran.r
the rating kva or va is given because both are limited to
the given value, whatever be the power factor. if the ratings
are given in KW, at low powerfactor people will subject the
transformer to a higher currents and damage the transformer
hence the ratings are given in kva

We operate a 10 Mw facility and we have been experiencing several trips due to fluctuations on the MVAR? We have checked all issues related to the AVR and we have found all OK? Can anyone help us?
