The key different between an alternator and a generator is
what spins and what is fixed. On a generator windings of
wire (the armature) spin inside a fixed magnetic field. On
an alternator, a magnetic field is spun inside of windings
of wire called a stator to generate the electricity.

for example take gen set in gen set alternator is coupled
with diesel engine .so whenever engine rotate .shaft of the
engine is coupled with alternator rotor .in alt stator has
permanent magnet so at time of rotor rotating its cut the
magnetic flux therefore Mechanical energy converted into
electrical energy .

We have .ht motor which is 60Hz.we run on 50Hz.so that it's speed reduce but we had one prob.that motor winding temp increase up to 135 deg.we want reduce this temp.what to do?we arrange ext.cooling fan but not much effect.we want reduce this temp. Inhouse without affecting much.cost. also don't want reWINDING OF MOTOR?

I just purchased a 4 position cam switch to be used to operate a 3-speed blower motor. The motor is a 10 amp motor and has 3 wires that are used to control speed. The cam switch was rated at 660V 20 amps but when I received it, I noticed that it has AC-15 operational current rating (Ie) of 4/5 amps. If I am reading the label correctly. the 4/5 amps is related to 440v/220V (Ue). Other ratings are AC-3: 5.5A, AC2: 7.5A and AC-4: 1.5A. My questions are 1) Is it safe to use this switch with the motor I have 2) what is the difference between the 20 amp Ith ratting and the Ie operational ratings?
