all above answers are technically not correct...
correct answer is in
welding: two metal are joined by taking them to reach
their melting point and fused together
soldering: joining two metal by applying another metal
which is melted and cooled down over the joint..

Answer / yuvaraj
welding is joint between the two metals with high temp &
mostly used in the hard metals.
soldering is a two or more metals joined togrther by a
melting& used in the light metals

Soldering is a process in which two or more metal items are
joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal into
the joint, the filler metal having a relatively low melting
point, it is distinguished from welding by the base metals
not being melted during the joining process

SOLDERING IS THE PROCESS OF JOINING TWO SIMILAR OR
DISSIMILAR METALS BY MEANS OF FILLER MATERIALS HAVING LOW
MELTING POINT. IN THIS CASE LEAD IS COMMONLY USED AND A
FLUX IS USED TO MAKE THE LEAD TO MELT EASIER AND ALSO THE
FLUX PROVIDES INSULATION FROM SURROUNDIG AIR TO KEEP THE
WELDED PART AWAY FROM MOISTURE. SOLDERING IS VERY MUCH
USEFUL IN ELECTRONIC INDUSTRY.
AND FOR WELDING, FILLER MATERIALS HAS HIGH MELTING POINT.
BUT THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF WELDING, SUCH AS GAS
WELDING, ELECTRIC ARC WELDING, SUBMERGED ARC WELDING,AND
FOR EACH PROCESS SHEETS TO BE WELDED MAY VARY IN TERMS OF
THICKNESS AND APPLICATIONS.

welding is a process of joining two metals with ferous
metal at melting temp.
solering is process of joining two metale with non-ferrous
metals at less than 429 degrees

Answer / m.venkatesham
Welding is a process carriedout for joining ferrous and
non-ferrous materials which had high melting points, It
requires high current to produce high temp.to melt base
material as well as filler/electrod.
In soldering is a joining process which is applicable for
low meltiong point materials like tin, lead and plastics.

HI guys,
the main difference betweeen these are temperature
1) Soldering - Temperature is less than 450 degree
centigrade. Complete fusion is not possible
2) Brazing - Temperature is above 450 degree centi. to less
than 1000 degree centi.
3) welding - Temperature is above 1000 degree centi.
Complete fusion is possible.

Answer / harshad date
welding is the process in which two different or similar
metals are joined which have less temperature difference
between them.so when they are carried to higher temp(say
upto melting point temp) both (somewhat more-lesser) melt
and thus they get fused.
but in case of soldering, two metals have large difference
in their melting point.so,before melting of "higher melting
pt material", "lower melting point material" can get
evaporated. to avoid that, for joining of such
metals,soldering is used.

welding-joining of 2 or more parts of a material(s) by
heating them to above melting point(of given base metal)
soldering-joining the metal gaps by another metal by
using heat

Answer / suji
in welding high temperature is used to join two metals but
in case of soldering less temperature is used.
