what is the difference between rake and rack...

Answer / malayappan

Rake is angle of tool. If you take a sing point cutting too
like a turning tool of a lathe it has front rake angle,
back rake angle and side rake angle and all are necessary
for improved machining and geting relieved the chip that is
coming out. In fact all these angle vary they are not same.
Rack may be a shelf you have in your house or ordering of
too the as said in a earlier answer

what is the difference between rake and rack...

Answer / rakesh

rake is the term used in case of a single point cutting tool
for operation like turning in lathe.
It is the angle between the normal to the machining surface
and the rake face of the tool.
-Higher the angle will decrease the cutting force and
increase the surface finish of the workpiece,
-This angle can be from 0-90 degree ,but generally its
recommended to 15-30 degree rake anle(back rake angle).
-Because increasing the rake angle, removes the material from
the tool that will support the cutting edge of the tool and
help in heat distribution from the tool to the atmoshpere.

Q : How to calculate cooling water pumps head, do I need to consider static head and frictional loss of the pipe with high elevation? I mean to say is discharge pipe branches to several elevations and joins to the cooling water return line. The highest elevation pipe goes to a heat exchanger at (xx) psi inlet pressure. Should I consider only pump discharge header and this piping for head calculations? How about frictional losses in return pipe? Pressure recovered in return piping is good enough to make it back to the cooling tower?
