In an industry harmonics are measured as TOTAL HARMONIC
DISTORITION (THD), which permissible limit in most of the
industries is 3%.
No doubt harmonic create losses, moreover puncture of
Capacitor banks,unwanted heating of motor are also the main
disadvantages of harmonics.

The permissible harmonic distortion For Volage harmonics it
is 5% & for current harmonics 10%.
Harmonics cause voltage distortion & losses in system.
