nozzel is a device which convert (high pressure and low
velocity fluid) at inlet into (high velocity fluid and low
pressure) at exit

nozzle is the device which is used for converting fluids
pressure energy into kinetic energy. if a fluid is passed
through a tapered pipe its velocity is higher at the outlet
as compared to inlet

Nozzle work on two principal :
1. Countinuty Equation
2. Bernoulli's Principal
So if Area of Crossection decrease then velocity will
increase i.e. velocity head increases that will affect on
pressure head.
Means velocity increases & pressure decreases at outlet.

the function of the nozzle is to convert heat energy into
kinetic energy.the inlet velocity will bw minimum but
pressure will be high whereas the exit velocity will be
maximum and pressure will be minimum.the nozzle consists of
three sections convergent ,divergent and throat.the fluid
attains velocity less than sonic in convergent and sonic
velocity (i.e., mach no=1) in throat and supersonic
velocity in divergent section.

Nozzle which is used convert a pressure energy to kinetic energy
Is This Answer Correct ? | 10 Yes | 3 No |
Answer / sandeep kumar
nozzle is used where we have high pressure and low velocity or k.e.but we needs low pressure and high velocity.
nozzle are generally of two kinds 1.CONVERGENT 2.DIVERGENT.
the nozzle whose inlet dia is greater and outlet dia is smaller is known as convergent while the nozzle who has low dia at inlet and large dia at outlet is known as divergent type nozzle.
WHEN WE PASS THE FLUID THROUGH A NOZZLE,ITS PRESSURE DECREASES AND VELOCITY INCREASES.
INLET VELOCITY <<<<< OUTLET VELOCITY
INLET PRESSURE >>>>> OUTLET PRESSURE

Answer / gatish mittal
the basic funtion of pressure nozzles is to convert the
pressure energy supplied by the high pressure pump into
kinetic energy in form of a thin film, the stabily of which
is determined by the properties of the liquid. such as
vescosity, surface tension, density and quality per unit of
time, and by the medium into which the liquid is sprayed.
the inlet pressure of pipe is more than outer pressure and
velocity is less than the outer velocity.
the velocity of nozzle is depends upon the ending point
diameter of nozzle, when a ending point of diameter of
nozzle is less than the velocity of fluid is more.
