It is a method used to avoid corrosion of the parent metal
by using another metal which acts as anode.Galvanisation is
one of the above methods .zinc coating is done. which acts
as anode and gets corroded resultng in no damage to the
steel or any other parent metal

Cathodic protection means to protect the burried metal
structures against corrosion; There are two types of CP
system:- 1) sacrificial (2) impressed. In these two types
the voltage between structure & soil should be maintain
about -1.12 volts w.r.t reference cell,according to
(NACE STANDARD).Equipments used in CP system:-1)Zinc Anodes
in sacrificial type
2)Anodeflex in Impressed type
3)Reference cells - CuCu-So4
4)Transformer Rectifier unit (Rating 50V/50A DC output)
5)Thermit weld
4)connecting wires
5)Anode & Cathode Juntion Box (A&CJB)
6)Reference cell junction Box(REJB)
7)Test Lead Point (TLP)

in industries some corrosion is occurs due to ant reasion.
if we want to avoid this problem than we use this
protection.
in this protection we give the current to what we want to
protect.
