WHY IS THE SIZE OF HOLE OF THE EARTH POINT IN THE PLUG POINT BIGGER THAN PHASE AND NEUTRAL..

Answer / parmar jignesh

EARTH POINT PLUG IS BIGGER , BECAUSE AS AREA IS MORE SO
RESISTANCE IS LESS & CURRENT WILL ALWAYS FOLLOW LOW
RESISTANCE PATH I.E WHEN ANY FOULT OR LEAKAGE CURRENT IS
THERE THEN IT WILL FLOW THROUGH EARTH POINT NOT THROUGH
PERSION OPERATING DEVICE, AS EARTH POINT RESISTANCE IS
LOWER THAN THE RESISTANCE OF PERSION OPERATING OPERATING
DEVICE

WHY IS THE SIZE OF HOLE OF THE EARTH POINT IN THE PLUG POINT BIGGER THAN PHASE AND NEUTRAL..

Answer / minal

we Know that,
Resistance= resistivityx length/area
This means that more the area ,less will be the resistance.
Also, resistance= voltage/current
since the resistance is high, more leakage/fault current
will flow through this big earth point.
Tha tis why, the size of earth hole is bigger than phase
and neutral.

WHY IS THE SIZE OF HOLE OF THE EARTH POINT IN THE PLUG POINT BIGGER THAN PHASE AND NEUTRAL..

Answer / chetan jain

The size of hole of the earth point in the plug point
bigger than the phase and neutral because , the earth point
is dirctly connected to the body of the electrical
equipment it makes the circuit completed before the phase
and neutral point's are connected, if there is a short
circuit happens it dirctly connects the equipment and
protects man for unwanted shock , or we can also say that
the earth point gives the path to the current to discharge.

WHY IS THE SIZE OF HOLE OF THE EARTH POINT IN THE PLUG POINT BIGGER THAN PHASE AND NEUTRAL..

Answer / a

during earth fault, high earth leakage current flows through
the earth terminal. so that hole is big

WHY IS THE SIZE OF HOLE OF THE EARTH POINT IN THE PLUG POINT BIGGER THAN PHASE AND NEUTRAL..

Answer / gtmanikandan

in my point of view
the flow of leakage current depend on the path the
resitance ,if it is resistance is less, cross section of
the conductor high,so we are normally provid less
resistance meterials that why the size of the conductor dnd
hole of the earth point are high

WHY IS THE SIZE OF HOLE OF THE EARTH POINT IN THE PLUG POINT BIGGER THAN PHASE AND NEUTRAL..

Answer / kk_london

I will give u simple example, the tank containing water
with small tap and the other tank with same capacity of
tank and water with big tap. If we open the taps at the
same time the tank with the bigger tap will drain out first
same logic applies to size of hole of the earth point in
the plug.

WHY IS THE SIZE OF HOLE OF THE EARTH POINT IN THE PLUG POINT BIGGER THAN PHASE AND NEUTRAL..

Answer / jetho balani

Technically there is no significant reason for having bigger earth point, but psychologically bigger indicate its more importance. As the bodyguard is useful when he is made stronger than the person for whom he is hired to guard, so all are advised not to avoid the use of earth point in order to safeguard yourself
