Sensex is sensitive index also called as BSE. It represents
top 30 shares basis on the [market capitalization] in
market.
Nifty is National fifty. It consists of top 50 sharesin the
market.

The sensex is an indicator, basically an indicator. It
gives general idea about whether most of the stocks have
gone up or gone down

The sensex is an indicator of all major companies of BSE
The nifty is an indicator of all major companies of NSE

sensex is the index of BSE (Bombat Stock Exchange), which
so the the ups & downs according to those top 30 compines
which are having maximum market capitalization among all
compines listed on BSE.
Nifty is also an index but it is of NSE (National Stock
Exchange) & it will calculate on basis of top 50 compines
whose market capitalization ismaximum among all compines
listed on NSE.
