Cost of quality is a term that is used to quantify the
total cost of failure,apprisal and prevention cost
assosiated with production of cost. This cost component is
called cost of quality.
Cost of production = RTF + Cost of quality
RTF(Right the first time cost) = cost of
labour,material,tools,
cost of quality = Failure cost,Appraisal cost,prevention
cost.

Hi
In general, the cost of quality depends on the phase of
product lifecycle.
If the bug is identified in the earlier stages of product
lifecycle, the cost of correcting it will be less, while if
it is identified in the later phases, the cost of getting it
corrected will be so much.
Even in some cases the cost of quality can exceeds till the
extent, where changing the design of the product will be
better option in place of correcting the bug.

Cost of defect depend upon the number of failure and defect found in product ,simply we can say if tester find out the defect at early stage at the requirement and specification time either before user acceptance then it is easy to fix by designer and developer and it cost low otherwise high ......
