potential users/customers or an independent test team at the
developers’ site, but outside the development organization.
Beta testing is a operational testing by potential and/or
existing users/customers at an external site not otherwise

a) Alpha Testing: - Alpha testing is simulated or
actual operational testing by potential users/customers
or an independent test team at the developers' site. Alpha
testing is often employed for off-the-shelf software as a
form of internal acceptance testing, before the software
goes to beta testing. The customer may be invited into the
vendor's facilities for an alpha test to ensure the
client's vision has been interpreted properly by the
developer.
b) Beta Testing: - Operational testing by potential
and/or existing users/customers at an external site not
otherwise involved with the developers, to determine
whether or not a
component or system satisfies the user/customer needs &
fits within the business processes. Beta testing is often
employed as a form of external acceptance testing for COTS
software in order to acquire feedback. Versions of the
software, known as beta versions, are released to a cross
section of audience so that they can test the application
in real environment and can share feedback to the
development organization.

Alpha and Beta testing are two different kinds of testing,
Alpha testing always performs in the development environment with the help of the internal QA team and developer just to ensure whatever we developed is more stable, and Beta testing performs by actual end-users in their environment.
This is the basic concept but there is little difference when we create a difference between service and product based company
Service-based alpha testing might have internal or external kind of user acceptance testing.
Internal means internal QA performs this kind of testing for customers.
External means the Customer does one round of testing before accepting the application.
Product base companies perform alpha testing with the help of the internal QA and development team only and this is an internal acceptance kind of testing there is not external acceptance testing concept. For end-users feedback, we do a beta release. end-users use the application and give the feedback that is meant by beta testing.
let me know if I am wrong.

What are the interview question on insurance domain in manual testing
Hi All, I am new in testing field. I got an interview and the question was asked- What would be your high level test case on the following scenario. There are 2 fields one is SCORE and other is GRADE and there is a go button. Scenario is If score is 90- 100 then grade should be A, if Score is 80-90 then B, if 70- 80 then C Else F. So I told that - I will check Boundary values by giving max +1 and min-1 values. I will check the functionality is working as per the requirement or not. I will include + and - testing. But seems like my answer was not correct, obviously because I don't have much experience. So plz provide me the best answer of this Q ? Thanks in advance. Preeti
