How and where from do we get 162 for calculating sectional weight of TMT

How and where from do we get 162 for calculating sectional weight of TMT..

Answer / hidayathulla

Area = (Pi D2 /4)
Density of Steel=7850 kg/ cub meter
Weight = Volume x Density

Derivation:
Area of bar x length of bar x Density of Steel per cum
= (3.14 x D2/4) x 1000mm x 7850 kg/m3
= (3.14 x D2/4) x 1000mm x (7850 / (1000 x 1000 x 1000)
= D2x0.785x1000x0.00000785
= D2X 785.714 x 0.00000785
= D2 X 0.006162
= D2 X 0.006162 = kgs/1000mm
= DxD / (1/0.006162)
= DxD/162.19
