the substation is a place from where we distribute electrical energy to consumers but we did not generate electrical energy at that place. The place where we generate and distribute electrical energy is called power station.

any step up or step down transformers with a protection equipment also acting as a source media in a distributed network can be called as substation.
e.g transformers located near apartments, street ends can be called as substation. based on the location placed it will be called as indoor and outdoor substation.

while on transmission voltage will drop so currect the voltage we use substation with step up transformers capacitor bank etc.and there is an option to break the load also

What is the operating range of voltage and current in grid supply in India?
Why tripping not occur when the transmission lines (11KV & above) breaks? Doesn't we provide earthfault protection for it?

Why do we use series motor to start our car?
we all know that in transformer, voltage and current are inversely related i.e. Vp/Vs= Is/Ip....so in standard CT..we have a ratio of 200/5...that means our voltage should increase by ratio of 40..althoug that is not the case...because that requires high insulation level.and pratically not feasible......can anybody clarify my ques.......thanx
