What will be the effect of in HT XLPE 220 KV
cable when one side of the Armour/cable ends are not
grounded. Will there is difference between 3-phase voltages?
like: if
A. Both End of Cable grounded Phase Voltages:- V1=219 KV,
v2=220 Kv, v3=220 KV.
B. One End is grounded other is not: than Impact on Phase
Voltages:- V1= KV, v2= Kv, v3= KV. Remain same or
unchanged??

What will be the effect of in HT XLPE 220 KV cable when one side of the Armour/cable ends are not ..

Answer / hemant

mostly we consider that armour is given for machanical
protection to cable from any type of hard punching on cable
and other if cable get damaged then it touch to armour
which alredy connected to ground hence our differantial
reley get pick up and device which connect to ht cable is
protected. if both end of armour is connected to ground
there may not any effect to supply voltage in cable it
depend upon cable insulation. only leakage current get
discharge via armour to ground. hence in point of me trere
is no one effect on 3 phase voltage it also remain same.
one thing is that armour one end require to connect ground
and second to device for earthing to device.

What will be the effect of in HT XLPE 220 KV cable when one side of the Armour/cable ends are not ..

Answer / k.prakashchandra

You have measured voltages with the help of PTs located near
the earthed cable ends . As there is a slight difference in
capacitances of the three cables to the Armour(probably due
to unequal lengths) and impedance of the PT is higher than
that of capacitance of the cable ,the neutral is decided by
the capacitances. There is no difference in actual voltages
but there will be a slight difference in measured voltages
