when Dg set is on, reactive power needed in system is
controlled by the avr system.
when we connect external capaitors then the system will run
on leading power factor hence also reducing active power
supply of alternator.

DG sets are used to supply local loads and as per designing
of DG the power factor is consider 0.8, hence in this case
capacitor bank may not required.

In an AC circuit capacitors are used to improve PF,and in
single phase motor for phase displacement,it charges and
discharges continuously till it is connected in the line,so
it draw some current.DG are designed for certain load,it
generate desired load current.If AC Capacitors connects in
DG supply,DG could not fulfill your connected load
requirement.
