NITROGEN IS INJECTED INTO THE TRANSFORMER TO HELP PREVENT OXIDATION WHICH REDUCES CORROSION AND TO MAINTAIN AN INERT GAS ATMOSPHERE IN THE SPACE ABOVE THE OIL TO KEEP ANY COMBUSTIBLES FROM EXPLODING IN AN OXYGEN RICH ENVIRONMENT.
