Answer / sheik hussain
if secondary side open ct act as step up transformer so flux
is increased ,for that insulation is not withstand so
vibration and high voltage occurs thats why we should kept
the sec terminals closed condition..
actually ct is not have a pry turn it have only sec tunas,
pry side is like busbar cable conductor ect.,so when s1,s2
is open it mutual inductance is occurs so act as a step up
transformer.. the flux is incresed, insuation get failure

Open Circuit secondary side of the Current Transformers
causes saturation due to high voltage induced.
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 0 Yes | 0 No |
Shorting is done ,when the ct is not in use or in case of
spare ct, to prevent development of high voltage in
secondary.Grounding is done to remove the influence of high
primary voltage due to capacitance between primary and
secondary, and insulation failure.
