According to the P-f Q-v the reactive power supplied by the
machine will be depends on the excitation voltage so by
varying the excitation voltage without affecting the
synchronization of alternator we can vary the powerfactor of
the machine

Is it necessary to place tap changer in secondary winding or we can use on both sides?
