we try to maintain pf unity or ls 1 because in this condition reactive current is zero
app. power = root of ( act. power2 + react. power2)

Only the kw is usable power. By having the power supply
power factor as close to unity as possible the amount of
current is reduced.

This means that transformers and wires for distribution can
carry more usable power without overloading.
