installation testing means checking whether the application
is properly installed or not at the client's environment.
this duty done by installation engineers not by test
engineers with the help of installation guideliness.
this installation is commmon either for a product or project
but, compatiability definatly done by test engineers for
product(s) only. compatiability means checking whether the
application is suitable or not for all environments.
if it is a project according to the client requirements we
just check in a particular environment.

compatiability done at company with the help of
installation guide lines, if that installation guide lines
are correct then we can apply same guidelines at client's
location also to install the application

compatability test bc its the part of functional testing
which is checked with lost versins and installation is
after the testing complets before going to check with
client it is done with the environment settings as per
customers environment

Compatibility testing is a part of system
testing.Installation is not a testing its work or task or
SDLC phase that we have to perform after acceptance testing
at the customer's place, when product will stable(means bug
free).Bcz in compatibility testing we will install our
product on different environment to check wether its is
stable or not..(i.e nothing but a installation testing).

abjection in that but u talk about installation i have some
suggetion on ur answer
here answer is installation testing not installation and
maintance stat
before we send to client side for installation tester

Hi friends,
The question is about the installation testing and compatibility testing...the answer is simple

Installation testing :- Its just to verify the application is completely installed and all the required file has been extracted and the software will at least 2 option 1 is recommend and 2 is standard so tester will verify these functionality as well.....


Compatibility testing is nothing but testing the same application in different platform, if its a web based then different browsers....

installation testing,in this tester has to observe
.setup program execution to start installation
.easy interface during installation
.occupied disk space after installation
compatabilt testing comes first
