yes, bcz 1-starting current is (5-6 times)greater than
supply current .2-starting toque is (1.1 times) greater
than normal torque.

since an induction motor is started on no load,it has a high starting torque.therefore they are switched on by providing high resistance using a starter.and once the motor has reached its rated speed the starter resistance is slowly cut out.
