Why is it that bus reactors are not accompanied by a neutral grounding reactor whereas a line shunt..

Answer / subbarayalu

In EHV Line, if there is single pole auto reclose used, during single phase fault, the faulty line may have arc current due to resonance which will disturb the auto reclose. Also, there will be transient recovery voltage. To compensate this effect we require Neutral Reactor in the EHV line. Whereas the same Auto Reclose condition will not be in Bus Reactor breaker. Hence, neutral grounding reactor is not required in Bus Reactor
