The neutral is a current carrying conductor, but at "ground" potential or close to.
By using the EGC as the neutral, you have neutral current on metal attached to the electrical system. It will and has caused fires and there is the potential for a fatal shock.
For example you use the EGC as the return neutral. An electrican is working on a circuit and opens the neutral and gets a fatal shock.

If connects earth wire instead of neutral wire the equipment will work no doubts, and the voltage given to the equipment (example, a bulb) is same as the voltage given by the neutral wire. even though why we couldn't connects so ???
It is because if we connects earth wire instead of neutral wire the phase(live) voltage will come to the next point of the equipment (in the point where earth wire is connected) via equipment, ie if we use a tester both side of the equipment shows lighted tester.
It can cause electrical shock and damages other equipments by other means.

we can use earth wire instead of neutral but the potential
difference may decrease because of earth resistance.we are
not using in day to day appliances because if we use earth
as neutral then there is a risk of electric shock

If we use earthwire instead of neutral what will happen ??
Step potential appear between the feet ,may be around 5volt & a very small current ( mA ) will flow that human body may not feel.
Now in case of fault, fault current will flow to earth & human body standing on floor experience a shock because of rise of step voltage.
So in this case step & touch voltage is dangerous for survival.

if earth wire is used instead of Neutral wire. Earth wire is
-ive infinit voltage. Then increase in the effective voltage
and then more current will pass. our appliances are meant
for specific voltage grade. this high current will damage
our appliances. usually, you can prove it by using electric
bulb neutral connected with earth wire. and chk the parameters.

ASTM D 3455 - Standard Test Methods for Compatibility of Construction Material with Electrical Insulating Oil of Petroleum Origin has been used for Testing Transformer Oils with a product placed in it. Aged Control Oil has a Power Factor of 0.032% at 100°C. Aged Oil with a Test component has a Power Factor of 0.093% at 100°. Is this increase acceptable? If not why? How much increase is acceptable?
