960 Number of bricks are required.
Explanation:
100 Sqft area of 5" wide
as the brick size is given in inches, convert the area in to
inches from sq.ft.
1 ft = 12 inches
1 sq.ft=12^2 sq.inches ie.,= 144 sq.inches
100 sq.ft = 100*144= 14400 sq.inches.
Length of brick = 9"
Width of brick= 5"
Thickness of brick= 3"
but in question it was given that the 100 sqft area of 5"
wide only..
Hence keeping 5" wide side of brick in position of 5" wide
area, Length of area 14400 sq.inches= (LxB=Area)
(L)*5"=14400.
L=14400/5=>2880 inches
No. of bricks= 2880/ht of each brick
Answer:
=> If we keep 3" side of brick along length the bricks
required should be 2880/3=>960 No. of bricks
=> If we keep 9" side of brick along length the bricks
required should be 2880/9=>320 No. of bricks
Check:
1) 320*9"*5"=14400Sq.inches=> 100 Sq.ft
2) 960*3"*5"=14400Sq.inches=> 100 Sq.ft
