Why noise test is performed at 254 nm in calibration of HPLC
system?

Earlier fixed wavelength detector is mostly used i.e 254 nm
because almost all Benzene ring containing compounds absorbs uv light
at 254 nm. i think due to this reasons only.

At 254nm none of the solvent or its impurities show significant interference so the noise will be recorded of pure UV light. i.e. detector noise

wavwlength.
