what will happen if petrol is fed to diesel engine and disel
is fed to petrol engine?in any case engine will run or not?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Both the engines will not work
1) Diesel Engine: Only air is compressed and fuel (diesel)
is injected when air is hot enough to ignite / combust the
fuel, petrol has not got this property but need an spark
which is not a provision of diesel engine therefore diesel
engine will never work on petrol.
2) Petrol Engine: If engine is two stroke it will never
function, but in case of four stroke diesel petrol may
ignite if engine is of higher compression ratio 1/14 or
more even then it will not work properly. Remember in
petrol engine both air and fuel as compressed together,
which will create many complication i.e. timing of
ignition, presence of spark plug. However petrol engine
will not work on diesel.

diesel has low ignition temperature,so when it will fed to
petrol engine the engine will work but petrol has high self
ignition temperature so when petrol is fed to diesel engine
which woks on principle of compressing air and raising the
temp. upto the ignition temp of fuel could not ignite
prtrol, therefore diesel engine will not work when petrol is
fed to it.

Yes.., both the engines will not work..
Diesel: It is high viscus and low volatility fuel..So the
self ignition temperature of diesel is higher than the petrol.
In diesel engine: Compression ratio is higher than the SI
Engine.., It is enough to initiate diesel without spark plug.
Petrol: It is low viscus and high volatility fuel..So the
self ignition temperature of petrol is lower than the diesel.
thats why we are using spark plug to ignite the petrol.
If we use petrol in CI Engine.., Highly compressed petrol
will blast.
If we use diesel in SI Engine..,Producing accurate air fuel
ratio is not possible although it may work.

In diesel engine,if we pour petrol it will work but not working efficiently,it produces smoke while running...
In petrol engine ,if we uses diesel than it will not work properly bcoz of high compression ratio of diesel

in diesel engine there is no sparkplug to ignite petrol
so petrol can't be used .in case of petrol engine there is
no injector to inject diesel so it can't be used.

IN SI ENGINE CARBURATOR IS USED FOR AUTOMIZATION OF FUEL & AIR. SO IGNITION IS TO BE TAKES PLACE USING ASPARK PLUG. SO DUE TO IGNITION USING SPARK PLUG NOT GET TEMP. UP TO S.I.T OF DISEL. SO COMBUSTION OF DISEL CANT TAKES PLACE. THATS WHY
IN CI ENGINE , DUE TO USE OF PETROL OVER COMBUSION OF THE PETROL TAKES PLACE.
