what will happen if petrol is fed to diesel engine and disel
is fed to petrol engine?in any case engine will run or not?
Answer Posted / zahid hussain
Both the engines will not work
1) Diesel Engine: Only air is compressed and fuel (diesel)
is injected when air is hot enough to ignite / combust the
fuel, petrol has not got this property but need an spark
which is not a provision of diesel engine therefore diesel
engine will never work on petrol.
2) Petrol Engine: If engine is two stroke it will never
function, but in case of four stroke diesel petrol may
ignite if engine is of higher compression ratio 1/14 or
more even then it will not work properly. Remember in
petrol engine both air and fuel as compressed together,
which will create many complication i.e. timing of
ignition, presence of spark plug. However petrol engine
will not work on diesel.
