Answer / rk
h has come from hybrid and why are they hybrid. Well
because they are hybrid that is they are not same.
According to the dictionary; they are mix breed and that is
what exactly they are: h11 is resistive, h12 and h21 is
just a ratio and h22 is conductive.
The advantace is that this mathematical model corresponds
to actual transmission lines with remarkable accuracy.

Answer / mushtaq ahmad dar
the H-Parameters are called as hybrid parameters because they have mixed dimensions (are not same like Z-parameters or Y-parameters)
i.e h11-omhs
h12-dimensionless(no unit)
h21-dimensionless(no unit)
h22-mho or siemens
