Why 4ma - 20ma signal used in instrumentation??

Answer / avinash kumar
if we consider 0-20 or any other value then we can't
differentiate that this instrument has fault or this
instrument has in its minimum position.if it indicated 0
means, it has some fault, if it indicates 4 means it is in
on state having minimum position.so by this idea we can
differentiate b/w damage instrument and the minimum
position instrument.

1:-4ma - 20ma are used to ged know about the live zero
positon.it means that if we use 0ma then we cannot get
excect error as postioner do not gos negative values.
2:- also we have less chances of noise in 4ma to 20ma range
which help us to carry out calibration.
3:- it do not produces spack if we joints its (+)/(-) so
can be used in hazard conditions.
4:-it is idealy accepted for calibration of instruments by
all.

There are some Transmitters which operate from 0 to 20 MA.
But 4-20 MA is standard.
As above one of our friend told, we cannot differentiate
whether the Instrument is fault or not when we get 0 MA.
Rather than that there is one more reason. MA will be
accurate from 3 MA. But getting exact ratio between 3 to 20
MA is bit difficult. so 4-20 MA is commonly used so that 0,
25, 50, 75, 100% can be converted in to 4- 20.

we can easily find that this signal is live zero or dead
zero.

The pressure class rating (such as 150 lb, 300 lb, etc.) of a line appears in the form of ________________ in the Line Number (or Line Designation) on a P&ID
A pressure differential gauge type of instrument has a manifold with 2 isolation valves (hp and lp),2 vents(1 each for hp and lp) and 1 equalizing valve. Determine the position of each valve(either fully closed or fully open) when troboulshooting to: 1. zero the transmitter. 2. determine if there is a block in the impulse line. 3. determine if the gauge is functioning properly. The process fluid is water.
Tell me the field calibration procedure step by step with diagram of pressure gauge, pressure switch, pressure transmitter, temperature switch, level switch, flow switch, flow transmitter.
why we are using (-24VDC) and where we r using plz tell me
Hi friends, from Aug 4th onwards iam getting spikes for analog inputs in our DCS for a period of 800ms. I throughly checked every thing, finally i found that the DI, DO's from MCC panels shields are terminated in the Signal Earth where Analog Input signals shields are terminated. Is there any problem with this type of termination?. i checked the induction voltage from MCC and getting around 25VAC, please suggest me in this concern. Our plant is 8months old only. DCS is Siemens Make Simatic PCS7, and the transmitters are Yokogawa make.
