In combustion chamber only, hot expanding gases can be
produced. In compressor only the pressure of the air is
increased but the temperature of the air is not increased
sufficiently.but in order to produce power high heat energy
gas should expand inside the turbine so that only heat
energy can be converted into mechanical energy. So it is
necessary to use combustion chamber.

Answer / mechanicalboyishere
combustion chamber is used in gas turbine to increase the kinetic energy of the gas.when gas is passed through the compressor the pressure of the gas is increased but a slight decrease in the k.e.of the gas takes place.
if compressor output is directly provided to gas turbine then less amount of work will be done.
