VCB means Vacuum circuit breaker Arc queching done in
Vacuum. SF6 breaker Arc queching done in SF6 Gas. And VCB
used for 11 KV to 33 kv but SF6 Breaker used from 33 KV to
400 KV.

VCB can be used for upto 33 KV ,due to difficulty in
maintaining the vacuum inside a VCB at higher voltage,,and
also ,there are some size limitations...nowadays,at all
voltage level we can use SF6 CB having pressure of 5 to 6.5
kg/cm2..

Answer / karthik_elec
vcb: its produce the vacuum during the on off and fault
duriations. this vacum eliminate the arc between the
contact points.
sf6: its pass the sulfer hexa floride gas during the on off
and fault duriations, the pressure of the sf6 gas inside
the circuit breker is 5 to 7 kg/cm2. it will vary the
operating voltage of the sf6 CB

VCB MEANS VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKER 11 TO 33 KV IS APPLICABLE.
INSIDE OF THE BREAKER HAVING AN ONE VACUUM INTERRUPTER WITH CONTACTS. HERE VACUUM IS AN ARC QUENCHING MEDIUM. INSIDE OF INTERRUPTER VACUUM HAS BEEN CREATED BY MECHANICALLY (MANUAL) OR ELECTRICALLY(THROUGH DC MOTOR).
SF6 BREAKER MEANS SULPHURHEXA FLUORIDE BREAKER. IN UPPER SIDE OF THE BREAKER HAVING AN GAS POLE ASSEMBLY. INSIDE OF THE POLE ASSEMBLY HAVING AN MALE & FEMALE CONTACTS. ALWAYS MAINTAINING 3.8 Kpa PRESSURE INSIDE OF POLE FOR 33 KV LINE.THIS BREAKER RANGES UPTO 750KV.

AS we know VCB can use 11KV to 33KV where SF6 use 33KV to 400KV, also safety are more as comparing SF6 higher then VCB.
If VCB blast that damage more where sf6 not damage more for its SF6 gas.
