Answer is 3
x%D =8 implies
p1 + (8/D)= x/D, ----1
x%3D= 21 implies
p2 + (21/3D)= x/3D ------2
x/D - x/3D =2x/3D -----3
from 1 and 2 and 3
(p1+8/D ) - (p2 + 21/3D) = 2x/3D
(p1-p2)+(3/3D)=2x/3D
hence logically remainder is 3
as ex 4/5 -1/5 always yields a remainder less than 5 with 4, 1 less than 5

(number-8)/D = any integer value (coz remainder 0)
(number-21)/3D = any integer value (coz remainder 0)
multiply with 2
2x(number-21)/3D = 2 x any integer value = integer
(2x number -42)/3D = integer value
so we can say that if we divide (2xnumber) with D remainder
should be 42
Again look
multiply and divide lhs of equation 1 with 3
3x (number-8)/3D = any integer value
(3x number-24)/3D = integer
subtract equation 1 from this equation
((3x number -24)/3D)-((number-8)/D)= large integer- small
integer
(2x number -3)/3D = integer value
so remainder should be 3
now we found 2 answers
3 and 42
actually both are right
but 3 is appropriate answer
we can conclude that number D is 39
so we got answer 42

Answer / manish vazirani
(number-8)/D = any integer ---(1) (since the remainder will
be zero)
(number-21)/3D = any integer --(2) (since the remainder will
be zero)
Multiply and divide lhs of equation 1 with 3
3x (number-8)/3D = any integer
=> (3x number-24)/3D = any integer--(3)
Now, subtract equation (2) from equation (3),
((3x number-24)/3D) - ((number-21)/3D) = any integer value
=> (2x number - 3)/3D = any integer value
the above equation satisfies the condition given in the
equation. Hence the answer is 3.

let take number = 99
D = 13
when divided remender is 8.
99%3*13 =99%39 = 21
99*2%39 = 198%39 =3
hence, answer is 3....
