tree has lots of watere absorbed in it... air under tree is
also humid... and it is advisabl not to stand under trees
durng lightning
combining all.... tree is a conductor... or not???

Answer / abdul basit
tree is not a conductor, according to the definition of
conductor. But in case lightening current may pass from it
due to LARGE POTENTIAL. Secondly if a gtransmission line
fall on it then it would act as an ground and Line to
Ground case occurs.
CONCLUSION:
Not a GOOD Conductor, but can afect the power system system
due to its natural behaviu=our(construction)

That is a very interesting question to which my old teacher
had the best answer.
Every conducts electricity some just more that others.
Although a tree does compose of water and other elements and
is the most likely spot to be hit by Lightning does not make
it a good conductor more like a good resistor.
The definition of a good conductor depends on how their
music sounds.... wait wrong conductor, a good conductor will
have little to no resistance to electrical current.
so if you want to experiment, and would not advise this at
all, connect a tree in series to a large load and hit the
switch with an ammeter to see what the difference is with
and with out the tree in the circuit. my bet will be the
resistance of the tree will be so great that there will be
no flow of current. (Low voltage (230V) up to 13kw load)....

In Indian Household, generally we receive 220V AC single phase supply. But AC has 2 phases, +ve & -ve. So in +ve half cycle current is flowing...so what happens in the -ve half cycle?? Please illustrate.

Sir if i have 2kv ups in which 17ah 8 battries load 600watts how much back up time i get and if i put 6kv ups with the same no of battries same amp can i get more back up time please give reply exactly what is the procedure to calculate back up time for different kv,s
ii) A shunt motor supplied at 230V, runs at 900 rpm when the current is 30A. The resistance of the armature is 0.4 ohms. Calculate the resistance required in series with the armature to reduce the speed to 600 rpm, assuming that the armature current is then 20A. [12]
