To measure the ground level tank (sump level), the RADAR
level transmitter is the best.

The ULTRASONIC level transmitters also can be used.

At low cost the PURGE TYPE LEVEL MEASUREMENT can be done
for the liquid/slurry level measure.

Most reliable LEVEL TRANSMITTERS are GWR or Guided Wave Radar type transmitters. They have no movable parts and are not wetted by the process fluids under normal operation. Hence have a long life.

On the lower end we have position transducers working on the principles of flotation.

Also magnetostrictive type are common in industries and comes at a lower cost.
