its an obvious answer: DC SERIES MOTOR
reason:- In trains there are many comartments full of
passengers,so during the starting it requires high starting
torque and in dc series motor torque T proportional to Ia
square and Ia=If,so if the motor started without any load
then the armature current will be very high which may
damage the motor.

dc series motor due to its high statting torque. In fact ,
the dc series are never operated under no-load conditions,
they are always driven with the load.

Both motors are used in trains. They are
1. Induction motor
2. DC series motor.
Reason is both the motors having high starting TORQUE.

DC series motor is used in electric train.
Reason : - DC series motor has starting torque.
In electric train, every comartments are full of
passengers. So load is high.
We know that , In dc series motor , electric flux is small at
light load. but when load becomes heavy, the electric flux
increases, then speed of armeture decreases, then
the armeture torque increases.
This armeture torque
is directly propertional to the square of armeture
current.
Then due to this increase in torque , the speed of armeture increases.
At no load , armeture current increases highly for which
the dc motor will damage the dc series motor.
So dc series motor is used in electric train.

DC SERIES MOTOR IS USED IN TRACTION MOTOR BECAUSE IT HAS
HIGH STARTING TORQUE AND IT CAN BE STARTED IN FULL LOAD..

Old trains use DC series motors but since the 90's they are using asynchronous motors.

3phase induction motor becouse in dc motors there are
brushes so there will be brush loss i.e frictional losses
and also it require more maintanance hence we can use
3phase motors
and also there will be another alternative brushless dc
motors

Dear Friends, I have a 500KVA transformer supplying whole factory having 3 phase and single phase mixed loads. Power room has ammeters connected via CTs for individual phase. Now I know that readings shown on meter for each phase say R,Y and B are line currents. But when I want to know the total on transformer do I need to add the currents of all three phases readings shown on meter or value for anyone phase will give me the correct power load on transformer for that point of time. 2. If ammeter shows unbalanced readings for R,Y, B phases say 150, 250 and 300 respectively so can I assume that 150A i.e average of 3 will be the 3phase load currents and remaining will be 1phase currents. Please clarify my doubt.
