why dc series moter is not started at no load?

Answer / tanweer
we know for series motor
speed is proportional to back emf/load current.
if there is no load then load current is zero.
zero load current means speed is infinity which will cause
harm to the motor.that is why series motor is always
started with load.

for series motor. no load means no current.
speed inversly proportional to current, so at no load motor will run dangerous speed.it damages the motor

in dc motor speed is directly proportional to (v-i*r)/(flux). in dc series motor flux is depend on load current. if no load current speed is infinite and it is dangerous and un satisfactory.

Motor armature current is decided by the load. On light load or no load, the armature current drawn by the motor is very small.
In case of a d.c. series motor,
Φ α Ia
and on no load as Ia is small hence flux produced is also very small.
According to speed equation,
N α 1/Φ as Eb is almost constant.
So on very light load or no load as flux is very small, the motor tries to run at dangerously high speed which may damage the motor mechanically. This can be seen from the speed-armature current and the speed-torque characteristics that on low armature current and low torque condition motor shows a tendency to rotate with dangerously high speed.
This is the reason why series motor should never be started on light loads or no load conditions. Foe this reason it is not selected for belt drives as breaking or slipping of belt causes to throw the entire load off on the motor and made to run motor with no load which is dangerous.

Given a collection of points P in the plane, a 1-set is a point in P that can be separated from the rest by a line; i.e. the point lies on one side of the line while the others lie on the other side. The number of 1-sets of P is denoted by n1(P). The maximum value of n1(P) over all configurations P of 19 points in the plane is 18
