why we use to always generate power below 16kv.why not at
higher voltage?

why we use to always generate power below 16kv.why not at higher voltage?..

Answer / tathagata

We can generate more than 16KV but in that case we have to
pay more cost for
“insulation of winding” and the size of generator will be
bigger which will not cost effective.

That why we generated up to 16KV and step it up with the
help step-up transformer up to the required voltage level
and sent it over HV line.

why we use to always generate power below 16kv.why not at higher voltage?..

Answer / saravanan.p

Normally, in India, the generating voltages are 6.6 KV,11 KV. Very rarely 22 KV, 33 KV are generating. If generating voltage increases, the cost of alternators, protecting devices abd other equipments are increased.

We can stepped up / down the voltage as we required by using transformers. So minimum generating voltage is efficient and economical.

why we use to always generate power below 16kv.why not at higher voltage?..

Answer / r.praveen durai

Generating Higher Voltage is Possible and more efficient as per Losses, But for that much of voltage high cost and heavy devices and Electrical equipments are needed for utilization like Transformers and their auxiliary device, Circuit breakers, Isolators, Surge Arrestors, Lightning equipments etc.. so its not easy and effective as in business mind so critical value and sustainable value of voltage is in generation.
