usually the same solvent is used in uv for blank readings
that is used in the sample preparation.

If your medium is given solvents, then that solvents can be
used as blank other wise that can't be.

Methanol for example absorbs at wavelengths below nm, and
water below 190 nm if we use methanol-water mix as a blank
we would have to use a wavelength grater than 205 nm to
avoid false reading.
