Answer / raghava235
when a transformer is over heated ,more hydrogen content is
released from the transformer oil when burns when reaches
air at the top of tank ...so conservator is used to allow
hydrogen flow upto it between which a BUCHolz relay get
operated.

Two main roles of conservator:
1) Due to temperature variation the transformer oil
volume varied it was compensated by conservator and will
allow pure air inside the TR.
2) To maintain the oil level inside the
transformers.

Two main roles of conservator: whenever high electrical
stress are produces inside the transformer due to fault
then temprature raise of oil it gives contraction effect &
gases also produced inside the main tank then it takes a
path to release the pressure via bucholze reley to the
conservator & breather releases the gas.
oil possible to store inside the conservator as per
capacity.

Answer / vijai
Whenever there is a rise or fall of oil temperature in the main tank due to ambient temperature differential or due to rise in winding temperature, the oil volume increases or decreases then the oil flow from main tank to conservator or vice versa is the main function of conservator.Required air flow from or to the Conservator is through breather.

Oil filled trasformers with a conservator,an oil tank above the transformer, tend to be equipped with the bucholz relays. These are the safety devices that detect the build of te gases, acetylene, inside the transformer, due to te corona or electric arcs in the windings and switch of the supply...
Transforms without conservators usally equipped with the pressure relays wich as similar function as te buchholz relay...
