for flow measurment first need creat difrential pressur by
using of orific plat in flow path dp tranmitter have low
and high side cannect high pressure and cannect low side of
low presure of tapping and transmitter will convert
diffrential pressure in to 4 -20 ma

A DP type transmitter senses DP pressure from LP & HP tapping.
after sensing DP we will have to change some settings in the
transmitter, the settings are as follows -
1. set the range in output block.
2. change display parameter from linear to square root.
3. change display unit as per your requirement.

When we are going to measure the flow using a DP
Transmitter there must b a Flow Instrument placed there. So
if we see the basic structure of a flow instrument we can
clearly see that one side the orifice is normal and it goes
on shrinking toards the other end like a conical shape.
so we connect the higher end of the dp to the normal
orifice and the lower side to the other end of the flow
instrument. and when there is a flow there ll alwyas a
difference in the pressure as soon the water/ oil / gas
enter the flow instrument the normal end is at high
pressure but the exit end is at lower pressure due to d
manufacture of the instrument. And we can get out
measurment .
