For Example if we take 110v Battery bank...Normally in
commissioning time we will put in Boost charge mode in
charger to charge the battery bank, that means we have
charge the battery upto the specified limit given by the
manufacturer,for 30hrs duration.The voltage is around
154v...after that it will come to float mode it maintain
the constant voltage 115V..Normally batteries are in
floating mode only..Only at the time of Initial charging
and if suppose batteries are drained then only we put it in
Boost charge mode....

Boosting Charger means charging of battery when it is fully
discharged. On this charging, per cell voltage will be
high resulting the system voltage to be a high value. So it
should have to provide a designed voltage to the load so
the load is connecting through avoiding certain number of
cell where and which it is known as Tapcell.
Floating Charger or Trickling Charger means the fully
charged battery in which we have to keep the voltage in a
particular limited range so tends to goes the voltage down
that due to leakage or a little consumption by applying a
little value of charging current.

We use a charger in float charger mode
when the battery is already fully charged,
but charging is still necessary to take
care of the losses within the batteries
and the current it is supplying.
we choose booster mode when the battery
is still under charged or the load current
is too high the float charge mode current
cannot cope with the load and the battery
eventually gets discharged.
