depend on distance if distance too short its should be two
wire
3 and 4 wire used for long distance

generally pt100 3-wire rtd is used as third wire
compensates the error and maintains the accuracy of
measurement system

3 wire RTD (PT100)is good compare to 4 wire & 2 wire as the
lead wire compensation is achieved in it with less cost.

Answer / ashish namdev, bina refinery [
3 & 4 wire rtd use for temp. compensation from sensor to Tx.
3 wire is good & mostly use.
4 wire is best because in 4 wire, both wire(+ & -) have
compensating cable. then reduce unwanted temp. approximate
negligible. then get correct output.
2 wire have more temp. interference error.

3 wire rtd is good bcz thired wire is used to compensate
wire resistence it is a wheet stone bridge
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 3 Yes | 3 No |
Answer / m.murali- inst.technologist
Balance two wires are used for compensation, if no. of
compensation cable increases ie compensation resistance become
average.
