a motor's measured current is 45amp,whereas the rated
current is 38 amps but still it is running ,how?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
The motor is running due to the non operation of the thermal
over load relay. The motor will keep on running till the
winding temperature increases the designed limit, finally
the motor will burn under the winding short circuit
condition causing production loss & down time .

Ans #1 is partly correct, but probably that is not the
intended answer. Rating of a motor is decided depending on
the ambient temperature. When you say that the rated
current is 38 Amps, what you mean is it can take a
continuous current of 38 Amps at the design ambient
temperature (say 40 degree C). During winter, the ambient
temperature may be 10 deg. At that ambient, it can take a
much higher current. (You can also give extra cooling of
the motor winding by providing an external ventilation
fan).

The motor is over loaded. It can work under over load for a
short time period.

ya after the winding overheats it will damage the motor,
the check O/L relay setting and its functioning we had the
same problem.

1. for eg, capacitor is used for many purposes(it act as filter, oscillator, bypass capacitor, memory storage etc...) 2. Please tell me some example circuits for different uses of capacitor( whenever and whereever and however we used capacitor as a filter, oscillator tuning etc..) 3. similarly for inductor and resistors(it act as what?) and when and how we want to act as like that?, and how we can used these components depends upon our requirments with example circuits and explanation? design to act as these components depends
