1.Burner management is not an analogue control system.
2.It controls the sequential start/stop of burners.
Certain burner management systems combine Boiler Trip
protection also and Furnace safeguard Supervisory system
(FSSS) is one such system used by CE/Alsthom
3. In European designs, the Boiler protection functions are
normally safety system either as SIL-2 or SIL-3. So they
cover all burner sequential start/stop, Boiler Purge etc.
under Burner Management system and MFT (Boiler protection)
is covered under Safety Boiler Protection system deriving
inputs from field and also sending and receiving signals
with BMS.
4.Generally Utility Boiler BMS and Boiler Protections
systems shall satisfy NFPA requirements to prevent
implosions and Explosions
