Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / ankush miglani 09718151073

see i will give u the exact answer
in actual wat happn when u apply dc at the primary flux
will be produduced in the core bt it is not alternating in
nature hence no flux is cut by the secondary winding so no
current is there in secondry side
and due to static flux the leakage current produced in the
primary side is high wich starts heating the pr wdg and
finally it burns the pr wdg and t/f is damaged.

so pls never ever try to give dc to a t/f
haan pactically dekhne ke liye try kr b sakte ho bt baad me
mt bolna ki inform ni kiya tha

Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / saju

Transformer is an inductive coil.Emf induced in the primary
side of transformer is due to self induction
and in the secondary due to mutual induction.

In dc their is no induction because absence of frequncy. So
transformer is not working in dc.Unless dc supply is
pulsating or switching

Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / vikas singh

Trnasformer winding is induction in nature. Inductive
reactance XL = 2*pi*f*L. Since for DC f=0, so XL=0 then a
high current will flow since the reactance is 0 which will
dmage the winding.

Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / anand

actually when we provide the ac supply to the primary
winding then aflux gets induced in the core, this flux
complets the path through the core because ac current is
varying type so the flux induced will also be of varying
type ,so this induced flux causes a current induced in the
secondary winding.and this case is not with dc current. So
only ac current is used in the transformer.

Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / nag

transformer is inductive circuit because it opposes the dc
supply

Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / ramesh

My suggestion, transformer was 3Ph supply & frequency
magnetic flux produced in the primary side winding & DC
supply only 1ph supply no magnetic flux in the winding. All
motor supply is required 3ph supply, but DC not available
3ph supply. DC current is more than AC current.

Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / saravanan

primary side is low risistance dc current is flow burnout
the sisistance so not induced emf dc side is not frequence
applide

Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / gayathri

Transformer is static device.the transformer is mainly operated in Ac supply. because the AC voltage, AC current flow through the primary winding,

Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / vijay

if use dc then primary winding damages bcz of high current
at primary side dc produses steady flux

Transformer not operated in dc ! why?..

Answer / hemantpandey

because transformer is a static device it can only conver the elctrical energy from one form to another and not perform

Is a contactor (or master relay) required between incoming lines and a VFD? The question goes to safety. If a contactor were used before the VFD and an e-stop engaged then the motor will coast to a stop (i.e. VFD loses power) instead of stopping much faster if the VFD braking fucntion were used. It would make more sense to keep power on the VFD.
