What is Black-out and Brown-out situation in the context of
voltage stability in power system?
Answer / iamdon
Black-out:
Sequence of events following the voltage instability
leading to very low voltage or almost no voltage in a
significant part of the system. This is a natural phenomenon.
Brown-out:
Reduction made in voltage at load end to reduce power
demand so that the Black-out situation can be averted. This
is done artificially. With the reduction in voltage, power
flowing through transmission line reduces. This avoids the
cascade tripping of heavily loaded lines.
