bcoz in star connection phase voltage is 0.57times the line
voltage. so that the insulation required is less. but in
the case of delta connection phase voltage is equal to the
line voltage. the insulation required is more.so the cost
of the equipment is also more.

in star connection phase voltage is 0.57times the line
voltage. so that the insulation required is less. but in
the case of delta connection phase voltage is equal to the
line voltage.main concern is starting voltage in case of
delta if the starting voltage is more then starting current
also more compare then star so we r using star connection

In Ht motor Harmonics of 5th,7th and above order are created. To provide a path for the this unbalanced currents Star connection is made so that those currents will flow through the neutral of the star connection. which is not possible in delta connections.
