back emf

All windings have self inductance and mutual inductance. So
Lx dI/dt effect produces oppose to current which can be
termed as back emf. In case of Induction Motor the rotor
is short cicuited secondary of transformer which produces
it's own magnetic field and back emf is iduced in primary
winding which depend upon speed of rotor and
current.

we take dc motor,when we apply voltage in dc motor the current is flow.the armature carrying conductor take current and cut the main field. according to faraday's law rate of change of flux,emf is induced but oppose the emf according to lenz's law.this emf called back emf
