why induction motors are of lagging type and not leading
type

Answer / jagadeesh
because induction machines are single exited machines.
but synchronous machines are double exited, in case of
double exited machines pf can be controlled by using field
excitations(pf it may be a lagging or it may be a leading)

Answer / iamdon
Induction motor is a singly excited machine. It means there
is no scope of power variation by varying the excitation. So
the nature of power factor is solely decided by the nature
of winding, which is moslty inductive.Thats why Induction
motor has always lagging power factor.

this is because induction motors draw a magnetising current taht lags the supply voltage..

Answer / hema chandra.m
as per electrical rools current leads the voltage in pure
capacitive loads
current and voltages are in phase in pure resistive loads
current is lagging the voltage in pure inductive loads
induction motor is pure inductive load thats why induction
motors are lagging type only not leading type.

induction motors draws only lagging power factor because induction takes place between stator and rotor and it draws only magnetising current

becouse in induction motors current lags the voltage.

Answer / s.krishnan
induction motor just like inductive load because its have
more copper windings.so induction motor has lagging type
load not leading type load.

because all motors are considered to be inductive loads.so
induction motors are lagging type and not of leading type

What should be the voltage between Neutral and Ground in secondary side of the step down transformer (230 V to 110 V) with no load condition?
I have 10 amp MCB for my air conditioner of 1.5 ton capacity. When I connect the ac direct it is started running but when connected through stabliser the Mcb Get trip and air conditioner couldn't start.please confirm whether Mcb is required to be upgraded to 20 amp. There is no fault in ac and the stabliser. Please advice the reason of tripping the mcb when connected through the stabliser.

y we use neutral, all r told its used to for closed path..k its a just used to closed path,in a transmission line y we put same conductor used n both phase and neutral..if we use less than phase conductor in neutral mean we ll reduce cost its right r wrong..if we use mean any problem occur in transmission line..
