What will the effect on a motor designed at 60 HZ, and operated on 50 HZ ??..

Answer / thowsif_emerson

Hi,

Normaly the motors will design for 4 Poles:-

W.K. That N=120f/P

If the motor is designed to operate on 60HZ its speed will
be 1800RPM,

If you operate the same motor on 50Hz Supply, then its speed
will reduced to 1500 RPM...

What will the effect on a motor designed at 60 HZ, and operated on 50 HZ ??..

Answer / baskaran.r

when operating 50 hz the important change is voltage. we are
to make V/F as constant ie voltage /frequency equal there
fore to operate the motor in 50 hz we have to reduce the
voltage per v/f calculation. if operated with same voltage
the flex will saturate and motor will take high amps and
burn the speed will reduce to 1500 as stated.

Answer / tareq harb

simply it will run on speed lower than rated speed of
course if there is no under speed protection installed, if
so it will not work.

Answer / parth rawal

if motor designed at 60hz & operated on 50hz then the required
output which is desired will not get poor efficiency & regulation speed will increses

What will the effect on a motor designed at 60 HZ, and operated on 50 HZ ??..

Answer / nagaraju chikkala

If we operate like this, we can't get designed torque becoz v/hz ratio will be more than design v/hz ratio.
If we want to operate with 50 hz, we need to reduce the voltage as design v/hz ratio.
